After watching the movie “3 IDIOTS”, your reflections of the 3 characters, which one would you choose?

This movie had perfectly portrayed the different possible reactions of every individual who has been under too much pressure. In real life situations, pressure is not only experienced in the family but also in the workplace, school and even around friends. This movie had taught a lesson of positivity and faith. Never blame the Lord of all the mischiefs that have been happening to you. Surely all of that has a purpose. Whenever we’re down and feeling like giving up we just have to motivate ourselves. Think of our goals and dreams. Motivation is an answer. A motivated person takes action and does whatever it needs to achieve his/her goal. Motivation is one of the important keys to succeed in life’s race. When there is a lack of motivation you will get no result whereas when there is motivation you will attain greater and better results and achievements.

As I was watching the movie a lot of scenes have hit me and I have felt different emotions during the movie. I was moved when Rancho had saved the father of Raju even though they we’re not in good terms. I cry once in a while hahaha I can’t help my tears to fall whenever the conflict is about the family. It’s like I have felt guilty. The unbelievable passion of Rancho had saved a lot of lives.

As one of the characters said, “Make your passion your profession”, do whatever makes you happy. Have you noticed that you are contented on the things you love to do? Have you noticed you have better results? This is one of the benefits you would take in knowing your true self. All of us aim for success and comfortable life in the future but never chase success because it won’t be that easy. “Pursue excellence, and success will follow”, never think of what you could get but instead on what you must get. Learn what you must learn.

Each character also depicts different psychological approach in dealing with problems. Each and every one of us has different level of emotional strengths. Some people may be hard on the outside but is soft and caring in the inside. They only tend to show that their strong just to show-off their not weak.

The story runs about the 3 freshmen students who have been luckily given the chance to study in a famous engineering school in India. First, Ranchoddas Shamaldas Chanchad or Rancho is the best among the 3 on controlling emotions. The genius, inventor and a good friend. Rancho has the attitude every student must acquire, and that is positivity. Rancho also has the courage to break the rules if needed. He is strong-willed; doesn’t easily give up on what he was doing. Rancho is also persevering and brave. Rancho is like an angel given to them to change the ways of their beliefs and teachings. Rancho never lives a friend behind. He thinks of others before himself. Professor Viru, the dean, hates Rancho for his gutsiness and because of this will be scolded and humiliated in front of the class almost every day. But Rancho never tried to seclude himself because of humiliations instead he accepted it with heads up for he knows he is right. Rancho irritates his professors with creative, proud and right answers. One day, Rancho hopes to surprise and congratulate his fellow student, Joy Lobo for a successful invention but they we’re too late, they found Joy Lobo hanging dead inside his room using the project Joy Lobo had threw because it was rejected quickly without seeing if the project really works. Joy Lobo had been under a lot of pressure because his father is very excited to have his son the first engineer in their town. A lot of students had ended their lives because of Professor Viru, even his own son had committed suicide because of too much pressure. It’s as if he is taking his revenge because he believed his son had died of an accident but the truth is its suicide. Rancho has the passion in learning new things every day. He takes every day an opportunity of acquiring knowledge and even takes his mistakes as lessons. Rancho is very observant and because of this he managed to get to know his future wife, Pia. That time Pia was engaged to Suhas, a wealthy man who is arrogant and greedy. Even if it was their first time of meeting, Rancho advised Pia to break up with Suhas because of his attitude. He said to her that she will only be like a prisoner all of her life if she will decide to marry this man. Of course Pia despised Rancho for that not until Rancho had begged for Pia to aid Raju’s father who had been paralyzed. Pia saw the compassion and goodness of Rancho. Pia had been secretly in love with Rancho. Raju Rastogi, one of the two roommates of Rancho. Raju is a coward person. He lives in fear of disappointing his family. He came from a poor family. His father once a postmaster had been paralyzed and is still alive just to witness him to graduate, his mother a retired school teacher and a tireless complainer, and her sister can’t marry because they don’t have a car to offer as dowry. He is a law-abiding person; A person who is afraid to make mistakes. Raju carries his family’s expectations over his shoulders and is bound to never fail them. He was once a coward not until Rancho came and changed his life. Last but not the least, Farhan Qureshi, really wanted to be a wildlife photographer but forced to take up engineering because his father want him to. Farhan idolized Rancho and had been his loyal friend. Farhan obeys what his father would tell him to do and what not to do. He was like a puppet of his father. He never wanted to disobey his parent even though he doesn’t want to do everything he is told to. Threatened by Rancho's talent and free spirit, Viru labels him an "idiot" and attempts on a number of occasions to destroy his friendship with Farhan and Raju, warning them and their parents to direct clear of Rancho. In contrast, Viru’s model student is Chatur Ramalingam or "Silencer", who sees a high rank at the prestigious college as his ticket to higher social status, corporate power, and therefore wealth. Chatur conforms to the expectations of the system. Rancho humiliates Chatur, who is awarded the honor of making a speech at an award ceremony, by substituting obscenities into the text, which has been written by the librarian. As expected, Chatur mindlessly memorizes the speech, without noticing that anything is incorrect, partly helped by his lack of knowledge on Hindi. His speech becomes the laughing stock of the audience, annoying the authorities in the process. These three had been friends for a long time, shared a lot with each other. They we’re like brothers. But they are always acquainted with trouble thats why Professor Viru sets his eyes upon the three and waits for mistakes that would never question them on why they would be expelled. One eventful night, they we’re already drunk, break into Viru's house at night to allow Rancho to propose to Pia, and then urinate on a door inside the compound before running away. The next day, Professor Viru threatens to expel Raju. Unable to choose between betraying his friend or letting down his family, Raju jumps out of the 3rd floor window and lands on a courtyard, but after extensive care from Pia and his roommates, talked to him every day, holds party in his room, but the only thing brought Raju back was knowing that her sister will be marrying Farhan without a dowry. He then awakes from a coma. That event had been the mark of the big changes in their lives. Raju has been very thankful that he is still alive. Because of the bet, Raju will attend the interview for a corporate job and Farhan will tell his father that he doesn’t want to be an engineer but a wildlife photographer.

Each character has different stories and secrets. After graduation they never saw Rancho again. Raju and Farhan had been successful in their chosen paths. Farhan had been famous in photography and had published encyclopedias. Raju have also a blog and is famous too. Luckily, one of their former classmates, Chatur 'Silencer' Ramalingam, came back to take his revenge on Rancho for embarrassing him at the speech night and promised to become more successful than Rancho a decade later. Having no contact with Rancho, who had gone during the graduation party and went nowhere they knew, Raju and Farhan begin a trip to find him, together with Chatur, now a wealthy and successful businessman, shamelessly confident that he has beaten Rancho. Chatur is also looking to seal a deal with a famous scientist and potential business associate named Phunsukh Wangdu. Chatur sees Wangdu, who has four hundreds patents, as his ticket to more social prestige. When they found Rancho's house in Shimla, they walk into his father's funeral, and find a completely different Rancho. After accusing the new man of stealing their friend's identity and profiting from his intellect, the host pulls a gun on them, but Farhan and Raju turn the tables by seizing the father's ashes and threatening to flush them down the toilet. The householder surrenders and admits their friend was a poor servant boy who loved learning, while he, the real Rancho, was a lazy wealthy child who disliked studying, so the father agreed to let the servant boy study in Rancho's place instead of laboring. In return, the real Rancho would receive the qualifications and the benefits thereof, while the impersonator would sever all contact with the world and start a new life. The real Rancho reveals that his impersonator is now a schoolteacher in Ladakh. They received a phone call from someone saying Pia’s wedding with Suhas was also that day. They frantically went to the place and pursued Pia to cancel the wedding for they have found Rancho. When they finally reached the school and found Rancho playing with the kids, Chatur mocks Rancho the schoolteacher. He asks Rancho to sign on a Declare to defeat document, and sees that Rancho is using the pen which Viru had given him. Chatur snatches the pen from Rancho and starts to move back. When they asked Rancho what his real name is, he reveals that his real name is Phunsukh Wangdu and calls Chatur, who has turned his back, and tells him that he will not be able to sign the deal with him because he has his pen. Chatur is horrified and falls to his knees, accepts his defeat and continues to plead his case with Wangdu to establish the business relationship he was after.

If I we’re to choose among the characters, I will choose Raju because he had overcome the fear. He let go of the rings he had been wearing as a sign of freedom and independence. He learned that respect is not only for the rich people but also for the poor. I can say that self-confidence does the entire trick. What Raju did was not easy; he was accustomed to be living without taking risks and taking risks is everything. Instead of betraying his friends he tried to kill himself and jumped off the 3rd floor and landed on the courtyard. After this incident Raju had changed, he said jokingly in the interview that he needs 16 bones broken to realize what he must have done with himself a long time ago. Raju lacks self-confidence and it had affected his decision making skills. I don’t think that ending my life would solve the problems. It would only give you another one, how to get to heaven. Everyone must be positive and remain calm. As what Rancho would always say, “All is well.”. Never give up there will always be sunshine after the rain. It will never always be a bad day. Strive hard and whenever you’re afraid just put your hand above your heart and say, “ALL IS WELL”. . Taking risks doesn’t just portray that you are brave but also portrays you are confident of yourself and you know for yourself that you can do it. Walang mawawala kung maniniwala kang makakaya mo. You are the captain of your own ship. Sail the world. Live. Laugh. Love. Just live your life doing what you really love and you will live that life to the fullest without regrets. Do everything you want to do until you still have the strength to do it.

” To attain knowledge, add things every day. To attain wisdom, remove things every day. “– Lao Tzu

Pirates Of Silicon Valley: An eyeopener

What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur? As I was watching the movie I can’t help myself to be amazed and at the same time disappointed of how the characters managed to get what they have right now. We can’t deny their contributions to make our lives easier and is still continuing their legacy up to now but this movie somehow spilled their secrets. Like any other individuals, I suppose originality is important to ensure one’s success but with this eye-opener I guess someone just have to be an effective speaker to get what he/she wants. It’s kind of about the Game of minds. The conflict between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates is stunning in a negative way. haha. In this movie there is neither a protagonist nor an antagonist. The two main characters have flaws. They we’re kind of funny because they kept each other’s secrets in order for their secrets not to be spilled. They both knew they we’re thieves, idea thieves. Si

FTS Experiences and Learnings (Major/Minor)

Our field trip and seminars model was set A, where in we have to have one Interpersonal Skills Seminar + one Major field trip (Manila) + one Minor field trip (Davao) + one national seminar. We paid 18,000 each for this trip. Preparations for this subject were made a semester before. Our officers have been had a hard time in finding and managing documents but thankfully; we have chosen great and strong officers to lead us. I am proud of our officers for they have never given up when there was an issue of not allowing field trips in the school. On September 10, 2013, we had our Interpersonal Skills Seminar at USEP social hall. It was facilitated by our guidance counselor. There were games that require team work and knowing one’s self even more. Our team won the sturdiest tower of straw. After that seminar I have known more about some of my classmates and met knew ones. Remembering that day make me remember of all the fun we had and the knowledge of understanding others
