My expectations for my first airplane ride :D

If there is any possibility that this field trip will be postponed or will be cancelled it will sadden me a bit much because I am so excited for this field trip. Hopefully this will be my first plane ride and obviously will also be my first time inside the Davao International Airport. Honestly, I really don’t know what to do inside the airport so I have decided that I will not enter the airport unless I have a companion from the group. As I have seen in the movies, airports are always busy. There are instances that your things will be lost or is exchanged with the other passengers. So to prevent these instances each passenger should always keep an eye on his/her things and to be sure put a unique identifier. I am expecting to encounter problems but not hoping for it. Accidents are unstoppable right?

I want to be seated next to the window; I hope I could because I want to see what Davao City would look like from above. I would probably bring my digital camera to capture the scenery, uhm are passengers allowed to take pictures inside the plane? HAHA Sorry first timer here! I would capture important and unforgettable moments as a souvenir of this trip. I also want to experience to walk inside the airplane while it’s flying. HAHA. This is my first time to be outside Mindanao. I have never traveled this far before because my parents are pure Dabawenyos, there are no reasons for us to visit Manila. They also never allowed me to have a trip without them. The feeling of excitement is filling me already. I think I will not be able to sleep before the flight because of the excitement. I am not exaggerating, I think I would be paranoid a night before this trip thinking of all the possibilities as well as the negativities. Nevertheless, I am nervous and uneasy on how would I act or react if I am already inside the plane. I know there will always a first time for everything. I hope my first time will be a successful one.

So I did my research and asked few people who had experienced riding a plane for tips on how to have a comfortable plane ride for the first timers. Most of the people I asked told me to chew a gum when the plane takes off and when it lands, they said it would help to even out the pressure in the ears. I googled it to be sure and I found this: “As you ascend in an airplane and the air pressure decreases, the air trapped in your inner ear will cause your eardrums to push outward. This expansion causes not only the discomfort you feel before your ears "pop," but also a decrease in hearing ability, because the pressure on your ears drums makes the sound harder to transmit.”, from MSU Science forum site. It is said that the change in air pressure would cause an ear sore. So I will prevent my ears from popping and will follow their suggestion.

And some also said that it would be helpful if I take Bonamine, an anti-motion sickness pill before the flight. This will undoubtedly prevent me from vomiting and embarrassing myself. :D

They also said that I have to be in the airport two hours before our flight and I was like “huh?!” because our flight is scheduled 5:00 am, so I have to be there as early as 3:00 am. So thoughts have been playing in my mind, What if I can’t be there on time and left by the group? Uhh! I would probably cry. HAHA.

And most first timers due to their excitement have the tendency of forgetting the most important paper he/she will need, the plane ticket. It would be an epic failure.

There are a lot of things to consider if you want to secure your safety. Honestly, what greatly bothers me is the weather. It is said by Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA that from July onwards is the time that tropical storms are likely to build up. Our flight is scheduled on September 16, 2013, it is actually only less than a month away, though tropical storm Labuyo is already out of the Philippine area of responsibility there is still a huge possibility that a new tropical storm will build up. I am frantic of the possible events that may happen. You could say maybe because I watch too much movies but think of this, how do story writers came up with that idea or story? Because, maybe it has eighty percent chance to happen.

In addition to my nervousness is the airplane itself. We will be riding a Cebu Pacific Plane. Recently, Cebu Pacific airplanes have been reported on the news twice because of malfunction. Though there were no casualties recorded it is still unnerving sitting on that plane not knowing if the engine is good or not. But as what our professor had told us, if it is your time then we can’t do anything about that. Nowhere is safe but there is no harm in securing your self. We have to be very careful of our surroundings because bad people are common nowadays.

Having such an opportunity to experience something new is an open door for a new adventure. This adventure is not just about my first time to ride a plane. I am expecting a lot of new experiences from this trip. We are visiting two companies every day during trip so I am expecting to learn new things, discover new technologies and to gain enough fundamental knowledge I need for the future. To be able to see these companies is a huge privilege for me as a student because not all could enter and witness their works and their system. We will also be attending a huge conference, the Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology; commonly known as Y4iT, it is an annual conference attended not only by students but also professionals to discuss ideas and new technologies. This opportunity to visit and explore Manila will be a huge event in my life. I hope this trip will be an unforgettable experience.

After watching the movie “3 IDIOTS”, your reflections of the 3 characters, which one would you choose?

This movie had perfectly portrayed the different possible reactions of every individual who has been under too much pressure. In real life situations, pressure is not only experienced in the family but also in the workplace, school and even around friends. This movie had taught a lesson of positivity and faith. Never blame the Lord of all the mischiefs that have been happening to you. Surely all of that has a purpose. Whenever we’re down and feeling like giving up we just have to motivate ourselves. Think of our goals and dreams. Motivation is an answer. A motivated person takes action and does whatever it needs to achieve his/her goal. Motivation is one of the important keys to succeed in life’s race. When there is a lack of motivation you will get no result whereas when there is motivation you will attain greater and better results and achievements. As I was watching the movie a lot of scenes have hit me and I have felt different emotions during the movie. I was moved when

Pirates Of Silicon Valley: An eyeopener

What are the factors that contributed to the success and failure of Steve Jobs as a technopreneur? As I was watching the movie I can’t help myself to be amazed and at the same time disappointed of how the characters managed to get what they have right now. We can’t deny their contributions to make our lives easier and is still continuing their legacy up to now but this movie somehow spilled their secrets. Like any other individuals, I suppose originality is important to ensure one’s success but with this eye-opener I guess someone just have to be an effective speaker to get what he/she wants. It’s kind of about the Game of minds. The conflict between Steve Jobs and Bill Gates is stunning in a negative way. haha. In this movie there is neither a protagonist nor an antagonist. The two main characters have flaws. They we’re kind of funny because they kept each other’s secrets in order for their secrets not to be spilled. They both knew they we’re thieves, idea thieves. Si

FTS Experiences and Learnings (Major/Minor)

Our field trip and seminars model was set A, where in we have to have one Interpersonal Skills Seminar + one Major field trip (Manila) + one Minor field trip (Davao) + one national seminar. We paid 18,000 each for this trip. Preparations for this subject were made a semester before. Our officers have been had a hard time in finding and managing documents but thankfully; we have chosen great and strong officers to lead us. I am proud of our officers for they have never given up when there was an issue of not allowing field trips in the school. On September 10, 2013, we had our Interpersonal Skills Seminar at USEP social hall. It was facilitated by our guidance counselor. There were games that require team work and knowing one’s self even more. Our team won the sturdiest tower of straw. After that seminar I have known more about some of my classmates and met knew ones. Remembering that day make me remember of all the fun we had and the knowledge of understanding others
